Images of species taken of plants growing in dune slack at Upton Towans, near Hayle, Cornwall. 30.09.12.
Equisetum variegatum is a nationally scarce species and at Upton Towans it can be easily overlooked. It is much smaller than other horsetails found there, and often, just a few inches long, and found growing prostrate amongst rabbit grazed grasses in seasonally flooded dune slacks. An important species to report where and when found.
