A PHOTO FLORA OF THE
DEVON AND CORNWALL PENINSULA

My Favourite Places

A new feature, and over the forthcoming months, and when time permits, I intend to
increase the number of accounts of places featured in this section. My intention is to write a small piece on my favourite places for both wildflowers and wildlife across Devon and Cornwall, the majority will be public areas but some may be private, or have limited access. Some of these may be nationally important and include National Nature
Reserves (NNRs), some will be Local Nature Reserves (LNRs), some cycle tracks, some gardens, and  some just small pieces of land no bigger than a postage stamp
that in some way because of the flora need noting for prosperity.

I start this new section with a report of Blunts Lane Allotments, Plymouth,
managed by Plymouth City Council, where I have an allotment. I am featuring it here as
an example of how important allotments are for both wildflowers and wildlife.

Next, one of the best days out that I had in 2005, a visit to Braunton Burrows
and its vast area of dunes. It did not disappoint.
